Rainy Saturday – March 29

And suddenly, March is almost gone! A misty start turned to gentle rain. The Irish horses were quite happy with that, and Stone has decided that he is almost Irish, by association.

I figured the rain had washed clean the bird board, and the birds looked very hungry, so I put out some food, which was appreciated. All goldfinches looked healthy. No eye problems seen.

It was a perfect day to work in the office, which I did, using my nitpicky editing skills to tidy up an artwork proposal for Harry. Nothing picture worthy in that, but if it leads to a commission, there will be more studio photographs!

I went up to the NEC to watch Marianne and her beautiful Liam doing a dressage test. Apparently, he had been less than perfect in the first ride, which I missed, but he was fabulous in the class I saw. It is such a treat to have met him as a baby and to see what he has become. Marianne has done a tremendous job with him. Horses of Liam’s quality are rare indeed.

Late in the afternoon, the sun came out and the world shone.

I ran a late afternoon errand, and while I was gone, Harry watched The Art Of Racing In The Rain. He didn’t know anything about it. I am familiar with it, and cannot even look at the book cover, much less watch the film. A dog dies. Poor Harry was emotionally destroyed, but Eddy fixed him right up.

Be safe, be well, be strong and kind. Be grateful for these creatures that share our lives. Slava Ukraini! God Save America. Peace…

    1. I read the book and saw the movie of racing in the rain. The dog doesn’t really die. He comes back as a human of course maybe we all wished he were still a dog! Yes, it was sad and of course I cried and cried, but it was still very good. The thought of reincarnation interests me a lot. Of course, I typically think of it as human to human. But of course there’s no way for any of us to really know about any of that. I’m glad Harry saw the movie I guess.

  1. Anne, your photo of the red winged black bird in flight is beautiful! And I love that sweet photo of Harry and Eddy; there’s nothing like a loving pet.

  2. Oh the redbuds!
I tried to read Racing in the Rain… couldn’t do it.
Birds in the rain are splendid, thanks.

  3. Yes, that redwinged blackbird in flight photo is indeed fabulous. Old Yaller finished me for life on any animals dying in a movie, but it looks like Eddy is pretty good as a consoling counselor!

  5. I loved “The Art of Racing in the Rain”. The movie was better than the book for several reasons, but still true to the book in most ways. Yes, the dog dies, as all dogs do! He was old, as all dogs age. The ending is worth the read. You are truly missing a good book if your focus is on the dog.

I was fascinated by the size of the cardinal compared to the finch.

  6. All those redbud trees in the misty rain backdrop are remarkable !
As are all the photos in the post or pre-rain light- What a perfect hug by Eddy to Harry, these never disappoint-
