It was a miserable, rainy day, the sort of day you want to stay in bed.
Horses never allow sleeping in. They wanted to get outside, even in the rain. Like Camargue horses in a marsh, with standing water in their pasture, though the Irish boys are the wrong color. Luckily, there wasn’t any galloping around splashing through the water, though it might have made for cool pictures.
From the kitchen table, we were entertained by visitors to the porch bird feeder. It was exciting to see three rose breasted grosbeaks, not common guests. The brown headed cowbird arrived and chased them off.
Common callers are welcome, too, though. Imagine how exciting it would be to see blue jays if they were rare! And Squirrel Nutkin’s cousin snuck up for a snack. I love the way Squirrel uses his tail as a canopy.
I see you!
I spent hours (no exaggeration) on the phone with AT&T to fix a problem with our television. We have been watching Netflix on the computer since Harry was in the hospital because I messed things up somehow and couldn’t log in on the TV. Suffice to say that “experts” vary in competence, and I had the misfortune to connect with Dave in Montana, who was stupider than I am. I finally convinced him to pass me up the chain and after another ridiculous wait (it had become a matter of principle not to give up by this point) I was assisted by Vincent, who had an accent, but also expertise. Within a few minutes, Vincent had it all fixed.
So, not a very exciting day to say the least. Harry was very productive in the studio, assisted by the dogs.
Mistletoe beneath Jack Buck clay No more pictures!
At the barn, the cats were glad the rain let up in the late afternoon. Licorice always keeps a distance from the barn. Tom Morris made plans for the evening.
Licorice, the elusive Croucher in the woods Maybe I will go to the woods and visit Licorice!
Corinne sent me Bart’s year end MOHJO (Missouri Hunter Jumper Organization) ribbon from 2019. He was 6th in the state in 1 meter – 1.20 meter Jumper! Appropriately, an Irish ribbon, and an impressively big one. Of course, there are probably only 6 jumpers in the state of Missouri, but it’s fun to have it, since we can’t go to shows anymore.
And, finally, my best accomplishment of the day was trimming Harry’s hair again (brave man)…
The forecast promises that tomorrow will be better than today. I hope all of us have better days ahead soon. Stay safe and well – and dry.
Never tire of smiling. It’s balm for the soul and promotes good haircuts
Looking good Harry, whether or not you smile! The sun will come out … tomorrow? Tally ho!
I love your bird pics. I haven’t seen a Rose breasted grosbeak in ages. Do you have special bird seed? 😂
I probably need another dozen feeders.
High praise from you, Betsy, considering your incredible African pics! I have only two feeders and I feed sunflower hearts, which are outrageously expensive, but make less mess than the whole sunflower seeds. I also feed suet – and for that I use Pacific Bird Supply suet cakes (alas, they are also pricey) containing whole mealworms in the suet.
