Preview Show Day 2

Well, I’m trying a different blog to see what people think…

Today, the #oldladieshorseshowing adventure continued.  It’s difficult showing at home, because everyday life continues on and we can’t escape to a horse show bubble, like we do when we go out of town.  But it is nice for the horses to get out in the pasture at night.

Of course, sleeping is done after breakfast, without fail…

Oisin wondered when he will get to go to the horse show…

This was not a good ‘real life’ day, though it was a good day at the horse show.  This morning, our two doggie houseguests arrived – Ruby and Weebles – who are a bit overwhelmed, since they are little and our four dogs are big and intimidating.  That complicated the morning.  And then I dropped my cell phone face down on the slate floor and broke it.  Meanwhile, Harry’s computer had a failed hard drive, and he had to go to the Apple Store, which is more than an hour’s drive away (luckily, he had an appointment, because the place was so crowded you could barely get into the store – at 1:00 on a weekday!!!).

Ruby is depressed…

Weebles is anxious…

We loaded Derry and Bart in the trailer at noon and headed to the National Equestrian Center.  I hightailed it up to the AT&T store (my new phone should arrive here tomorrow), and when I returned, the jumper course was set and ready to walk.  Perfect timing.  The schedule today was much more efficient.

Bart was ready to go, as usual…

Both old ladies went double clear today!  Bart and I went before Derry and Jane this time, and we had a pleasant round – today was a Table II, 2c course (Power and Speed).  The course designer, Scott Starnes, does a nice job – we are enjoying his courses, and we did not get lost today (that’s saying something with Power And Speed, which is always a long course to memorize).  Jane felt she got a little lost yesterday.  But today’s track seemed a good one for both of us.  Harry stopped by on his way back from the Apple Store, and he shot video.

Derry and Jane schooled well, and had a smooth double clear trip, too.  I failed to mention yesterday that it was VERY hot.  Today was better, but not much.  I rode without a coat, but Jane is always impeccable in her turnout and her equitation, as you can see in the pictures (taken from video, so they are not very good).

Bart and Anne…

Derry and Jane…

Bart’s time was a little faster than Derry’s – Jane went a little wider on one turn, but we finished 3rd and 4th – we love it when we have contiguous ribbons!   Best of all, we were both pleased with our red Irish horses, who were perfect old lady mounts today!

Now we are just hoping that we can be double clear in the important classes, the Adult Jumpers, which start tomorrow!
