Onward Into April

There has been a cascade of sadness over the past few weeks, as happens sometimes in life. More often, of course, as we get older. But Spring is exploding, as it always will, and on we go.

We had a lot of rain at the end of March, which added to the melancholy.

Rebecca came to help with gardening and bush honeysuckle removal. She is great company and a very hard worker. She always arrives with flowers and eggs from her wonderful Marans chickens.

We continue to have frosty mornings, but flowers are undeterred and Spring proceeds optimistically onward. The workload is increasing with the nice weather, as spirits lift.

More Spring flowers…

And there are birds…

Harry and the dogs are always a joy, awake or asleep.

Harlan arrived last Tuesday for the dumpster – in summer clothes.

The horses are shedding. Bart had a good roll after a ride.

Jane and Derry had a jump school, with Rebecca helping as jump crew. I was briefly sidelined with a minor injury.

Fred was here on Wednesday, which is always fun, though it was quite a chilly day. There were many laughs, but Fred is never distracted from doing an expert job. We feel very lucky to have an outstanding shoer, who is also a friend.

The cats are delightful, as always.

More tomorrow… Nature is always a comfort, and there are wonders everywhere, like this tree with a handle.

Be safe, be well, make the most of every day. Slava Ukraini! Peace.

  1. Your flowering trees are beautiful. We are in the earliest stages of Spring but warm temperatures are promised to speed things along. I hope as the season progresses the sadness will lift.

  2. Especially beautiful collection of photos this episode. The tree with a handle made me think of those three that fell over at Augusta. Imagine a tree with handles like that going all the way up to the top.

  3. Happy Belated Passover & Easter and of
course, Spring! Always lovely & loving photos here- I keep meaning to send a ‘maybe’ Spring Beauties shot in for positive ID but forget. I guess I should look thru other or coming blog posts for your better shots! Onward & upward with more cheer!
