On To October – Oct 2

In the midst of busy life here, I am trying to learn to use my new camera. I am a slow learner, but I am delighted with the pictures it can take. Birds are absent from the back porch, with the deck being replaced, but I did get a few bird pictures out and about. Today, I went to do some electronic recycling and had the camera with me, when I came upon a bald eagle eating some roadkill. I took pictures through the windshield, and I was too excited, so I missed the best shots, but still…

Of course, Eddy is a good subject for practice.

People are also good subjects…

And I never tire of horses…

Cats make good subjects, but I have not had much luck with them lately, only a shot of Rosie being rather grumpy about Eddy’s antics.

The recent rains have brought out some lovely fungi…

I saw this snake on the road – I think it’s an immature black snake. Beautiful, whatever it is…

Not a living thing, but we went to Columbia for a reunion of Mid Missouri Honor Flight #69, and we saw a Congressional Medal of Honor, which had been awarded to Sgt. Russell Dunham from Jerseyville, Illinois. His granddaughter, Betsy Edgar, brought the medal for people. to see. The event was very nice. The many volunteers are heroes, and incredibly generous. Harry was given another bag of mementos and beautiful, handmade lap robe for the cool evenings ahead.

Here is the deck, nearing completion, only awaiting some final materials, which should arrive next week.

Days are shorter, horses are hairier, and we are very busy. Laura is home from the hospital and healing. Life hurtles on…

Stay safe, stay well. Slava Ukraini! Peace.

  1. I agree with Leslie- your photos are fantastic! I would also like to know what camera is producing these excellent pics!

  2. Anne,
Thank you so much for sharing all those beautiful pictures!!
Your garden and deck look so inviting and homely- I wouldn’t mind being one of your lucky animals hanging out and enjoying the outdoors with you and Harry !!
I’m so looking forward to visiting you some time .

  3. Busy, a new catch word, something has taken over us, everyone is “busy.” It’s almost as if, if you are not busy you are insufficient in some way, lacking substance and purpose. (Of course this is my perception built by years of misunderstandings) But, with you Anne, as I’m thinking, “Hey everyone, stop and enjoy your friendships, and the roses, and the sun, and the trees . . .” you Anne do this along with being busy! And, you bring your daily observations to us, what a wonderful way to be so busy! Thank you again! The General is looking mighty fine!

  4. Anne, do share with us what camera you picked. I am also curious if you got a new lens as well assuming it is an SLR. Thrus

  5. Great job with your new camera!!! My how handsome the General is getting!! The deck looks great. Love all your photos as always. Happy Fall!
