My “vintage” (according to Apple) 2014 computer began to glitch. Support told me it was the beginning of the end, and I should start to think about replacing the machine, without which I can no longer function. I thought for about a minute, consulted Harry, who didn’t even think about it, and we ordered a new MacBook Pro. It arrived three weeks ago, but I was dreading the transfer of everything, and the old computer was behaving… until a few days ago. After a tortured time consulting with various tech support people and learning slightly different, but admittedly better, new programs, here we go again.
Last night’s full Wolf Moon lit the way to the barn when we returned from dinner with friends in St. Louis. It made for a restless night, I think, and was still shining this morning when it was time to turn horses out.
This year, January has arrived with pleasantly warm temperatures. This may not be a good thing in the big picture, but we have been enjoying every mild day. Jane and I have even been back on our horses, at last!
Harry’s heart is misbehaving again, so he has had to postpone riding. It is probably just as well, since Stone is desperate for a reset of his shoes, and must wait for Fred to visit. Fred’s wife was unwell on Thursday, when shoeing was scheduled, so the visit is postponed until next Monday. We have our fingers crossed that all shoes stay on until Fred gets here. Stone is now past 12 weeks, which is a crazy long time between shoeings!
Meanwhile, all the dogs and cats are well. They don’t need shoes, but the dogs and Roscoe do get nail trims. It’s a stressful procedure for Nettie and Cedar, but our boys are good about everything.
The birds are eating voraciously even though the weather has moderated. I finally got a picture of the yellow shafted flicker, who has recently returned to the feeders.
Stone had a restless night last night, just like I did! He woke up with a bad case of “bedhead”.
Today got off to a cold start, and was a sort of dreary, overcast day, but that was helpful for learning my new computer. Harry took Weedy for a walk, and I tagged along, happy to see some winter color in the woods.
Be safe, be well. Get outside whenever possible. Slava Ukraini! Peace.
Congratulations on the new computer 🤞👍
Anne, your photos just get better and better, which says a lot because they were already par excellence! The Weedy portrait with those wonderful dog “I love you” “Want to play?” eyes. And the Flicker taking off, quite a costume! Love to Harry and his heart. Love to you and all the critters at beautiful, serene, and sometimes raucous Bronze Fox Farm. Oh! And, Tom Morris, posing on the fence, doesn’t he look just like a cat one might see in Africa?
