Happy Star Wars Day! This was one of the few movies I went to see and had to leave because it was sold out – twice! That was in 1977. It was actually released on May 25, but “May The Fourth” is Star Wars Day.
Monday dawned beautiful, but devolved to a rainy afternoon. I ran around taking some pictures in the morning, after bringing the horses in. Oisin was asleep before Bart today, an unusual order in these creatures of habit.
Oisin got up for a trip over to Jane’s house to consult with Fred, who was shoeing Derry. He had a bad case of bed head, or bed ear, actually…
I meant to get over to Jane’s botanical paradise for pictures, but the weather changed before I could manage it. When I moseyed over with Oisin, all I had was my phone camera, which could not do justice to her beautiful gardens and flowers. It was such fun to see everything as we wandered down the driveway. As always, Fred made me laugh a lot. We decided to move the shoeing appointment up one week. I stayed for a visit and extra laughs, not to mention donkey hee haws.

When I was ready to leave, I said “When I was young, I would just jump on bareback and ride him home in a halter and lead rope…”. Jane said, she’d pay money to see that. Well, I could hardly pass up a challenge like that. I couldn’t exactly jump on him, but as luck would have it, there was a pile of landscape pavers outside the barn, so I climbed aboard and rode home. Such a perfect old lady horse! I think Oisin was too surprised to misbehave. You can see the beautiful weather was being pushed out…
Harry was walking the dogs, and he hardly needs the cane anymore!
While we ate lunch, the squirrels did, too.

Since the rain prohibited riding, I spent some time in the barn doing a spa day for the horses, including Spring sheath cleaning. Bart was exhausted by it.
Harry worked in the studio, of course.
Rain poured down, but stopped in time for evening turnout.

And finally, I cleaned the water trough and saw the first toads of the season underneath the trough. A good omen, I think. I love toads, they eat lots of flies, and amphibians are a sign of a healthy ecosystem. They were not unhappy about the rain at all. I hope that a pair of toads means more toads in the future.
Stay well, stay safe and dry, and search out laughter.
oh yes, I would always prefer to ride than walk, good job! Beauty and laughter abound in your shares, many thanks!
Beautiful place it is. Good with the camera you are. Happy Fourth Day.
Congratulations, cane-free Harry!
I love toads too.
Me too!
Yeh Harry!! You have done everything right, and you have won! Amphibians, I did not know this about being signs of a healthy ecosystem. No wonder really, considering I’ve always suffered from a very orange thumb. You all make me happy!! Thank you!!
HOH I am worried about your not using the cane (when i had a cracked pelvis, the dr practically killed me when i told him i was no longer using my crutches). BUT, I will consult with the best doctor I know about the case. (hint: she resides in St. Louis.
Harry’s doctor, while not quite as good as your St. Louis doctor, has released him officially from cane use (and he is an orthopedic doctor!). HOH is still using the cane for the basement steps, where there is no railing. Remember, it has been 12 weeks!
