Monday – March 7

After a brisk, but tolerable day yesterday, a big storm blew through, and today was gloomy and cold. Nonetheless, Spring is coming. Crocus and daffodil blooms are leading the way, and the grass is showing hints of green.

Our scheduled shoeing day was postponed until the middle of next week, since the horses have not grown much foot since Fred’s last visit. Bart had a good roll yesterday after he returned from the show, and I thought he would be tired and sedate today, but he was wild. He and Stone did some dramatic playing, while Oisin concentrated on eating, his favorite activity.

The birds were hungry with the return of wintry weather.

The cats are looking forward to warmer days, as are we all.

Harry is an example to me, appreciating and making the most of every day, even the gloomy ones. Of all the myriad ways in which I am fortunate, this is the best. We laugh together, and weep together during these strange and stressful times. We listen to Janis Ian sing “Better Times Will Come”, and hope she is right.

Try to find beauty to distract and soothe.

Be safe, be well, be strong, be grateful. Peace.

  1. I was tutoring a Russian ESL student here before he moved on to Florida. We still communicate via Instagram. Fortunately, he has a Ukrainean girlfriend there in Florida, who is keeping him well informed on what is going on. I ache for them both. It’s horrible.

  2. Stunning photos! Fun photos! Exceptional photos! Yep, I’m wowed today. Peace is a dream, a beautiful dream born on the hope that human weaknesses turned to evil practices will someday disappear.
