Our red Irish horses, who jumped so many jumps yesterday, had a day off today, and Oisin and Stone were pressed into service. It was a nice, cool morning, and we went for a trail ride, followed by a little work on the ring.

Jane and Oisin

As we wandered along the trails, we talked of Pat. We recalled a trip we took early in our acquaintance with Pat and her then husband. We went to Fulton to look at horses. Kenny Burgdorfer, who is also gone now, was a great source of horses. It eludes me just what we were looking for exactly, but Pat saw a kitten, and Kenny told her she could have it. Pat and her husband were “dog people”, but Pat took that little orange kitty and named her Scarlett. She was the first of many cats in Pat’s life. Pat became the cat lady of Rolla for a while. She even had a cat bequeathed to her in a will – with money to care for it as long as it lived! The many cats in Pat’s life went on before her, which was sad for Pat, but a blessing for the cats. We are left with so many memories of Pat. They wash over us and give us some small consolation now that she is gone for good.

It was a beautiful day, and not too hot, so a productive day. Rebecca came to help with gardening, a truly Herculean task.

Roscoe oversaw much of the work. Not many pictures today. Mistletoe is still in disgrace. Roscoe feels very dog superior. He has never bitten a guest!

End of another full day. This picture is from last night, but I expect I will find a similar scene when I get to bed shortly, though later than I would like.

And finally, Montana mule baby, Rainy, has been out in the rain, while, in the mountains, in the middle of June, it is snowing…

Stay safe, stay well. Remember.
