We had errands across the river this morning, so it was a hectic start to the day, but we had time to stop at Starbucks, which was a treat. I am very grateful to my friend, Anne Nelson, for teaching me how to order with my phone, to avoid waiting in line.
Every family has its favorite recipes. My mother made wonderful Christmas cookies, and my very favorites were the “pecan puffs”. They require a sort of gift to make them just like she did, and my brother, Peter, has the knack. Needless to say, I do not! Since Peter knew we were venturing into St. Louis County, he prepared a huge batch of pecan puffs, and we did a drive-by pickup. Wow! It really feels like Christmas now.
When we got home, the dogs were ready to come out of the house! Harry carried groceries in, and Harry let the dogs out.
Later, when the dogs returned, we enjoyed a lunch of rotisserie chicken. Since we are practically vegetarians much of the time, the dogs were on high alert.
Weedy Cedar Nettie Mistletoe Nettie prepares to bite the hand that feeds her!
I did barn chores and tried not to worry about the constant rough housing in the paddocks.
While in the barn, I had a long chat with a good friend in Texas, thanks to the technology of cell phones and earbuds, leaving hands free. Her dog, Jack, died a few weeks ago. I didn’t know him, but I know friend’s heart, and I was terribly sad for her. She has a new puppy now, called Scout, and he is adorable. He was one of 9 puppies found in a dumpster at only 3 weeks of age, and only three survived. He had a tragic start, but he will be profoundly loved for the rest of his life. Lucky puppy, Scout…

Marmalade wondered what was taking me so long, fixing dinner. He poked his head around the corner to check on things.
In the studio, Harry was hard at work as always. At least he got to take a day off basement biking today.
Stay safe, stay well, wear your masks and wash your hands! There is a lot of Covid out there!
Happy Days at Bronze Fox Farm! The dogs looked as if they had been locked up all day! Marmalade is so, well, cat. Darling picture of, is it a her? And those cookies sound divine! Let’s do have a Merry Christmas, should be easy with so much love going around.
Marvelous! I laughed, and cried, and did some serious thinking, thank you!
Peace
I made 16 dozen of these cookies last weekend. My recipe calls them Mexican Wedding Cakes.
Lots and lots of butter.
Thanks a lot for triggering excessive salivation with that cookie pic, Anne!
