Leap Day Movie Day – February 29, 2020

Harry’s pals decided it was time Harry saw a movie with them, so they told me to get out for a while. I made a plan to finally see Dorothy after her lung cancer surgery while the boys had their fun.

Harry slept well and woke up late and well rested… I never get tired of seeing the dog and his boy asleep.

The patient is getting stronger every day. There was lots of PT walk / hopping and even a standing shave at his own sink!

Then, Jack and Wayne swept in like superheroes, armed with popcorn and Junior Mints and a massive TV! These are good friends, and great fun. The patient improved markedly!

I was off to the farm – Three Creek Farm, where I grew up riding Connemaras, and where I lived for several years. Dorothy had lung cancer surgery just after Harry’s accident, and she has been recuperating at the farm. As of a couple of days ago, she has been released to drive again – freedom! It was a joy to see her looking well, and to get the good news that she will not need chemo or radiation. She lost the middle lobe of her lung, but with that all the cancer is gone. Dorothy asked me to bring a dog, since the house didn’t feel right, dogless. Nettie was thrilled to go on an adventure, but I couldn’t leave her there, of course. Laura is away at Shakertown, Kentucky, basseting, and will return with her little terrier, Dreidl, on Monday.

While we were gone, Jack enjoyed the hospital bed, complete with the dog attachment…

Soon, it was time to rush home to Harry, who had survived without us, and was thrilled to be served some leftover pizza. Nettie was hoping he might drop some!

It was wonderful to spend time with Dorothy, but I was very fretful being gone so long. It was a beautiful day, the horses were very content, as was Harry. I think I just need to calm down! Mantra of my life!

We had pie with fresh whipped cream – good medicine!

I don’t know who is more tired this evening, Nettie, or me!

  1. A beautiful, sooooo full of love, blog (stupid word). English majors suffer our new acronym styled language, but this is not about me. Well, maybe it is, yours dogs, oh my, their presence in your life seems beyond the average dog/human relationship, with you and Harry they’ve become perfect littles humans. Weedy and Harry asleep together, I’m green with envy and feel the bond they have. This cannot help but make me very happy. Nettie, who has appeared so concerned and watchful, perhaps as with you, Anne, she needed a new view, if not for just awhile, lol. I haven’t seen much of Mistletoe in these heartwarming photos. I wonder, how is she taking all this? Harry, your way of going through this life would cure any dis-ease. BRAVO!!!

    1. Hooray for good friends, Linda! We loved your card, but how can your good dog possibly be 15 already!? Give Tink a big kiss from us! Nettie, who is 12, says 15 is the new 8…
