Ides Of March – March 15, 2021

Another dreary March day, but we are less than a week from Spring and April beckons (that cruel month).

The birds fed enthusiastically, and the rufous sided towhee made an appearance today.

Taxes must be done, and today I had to run some documents up to Wentzville. Weedy volunteered to go along. He is a great traveler, and we made a detour to Starbucks for coffee and a “pup cup”. I neglected to get a picture, but it was a heartwarming sight as he dove into the whipped cream.

At home, the horses are resigned to being locked in the paddocks, but the grass is definitely coming on, so as soon as we have a few dry days, they will get an hour or two on pasture. Then they won’t be quite as resigned to confinement.

Mistletoe spent some time between rain showers admiring the daffodils.

Licorice and Marmalade awaited their dinner before a downpour.

I realized I had no picture of Harry today, so here is a picture from a few years ago – 36 to be precise – of Harry having won the Kemp Homes Cup at the St. Louis Steeplechase at Buder Park, which Chris remembered correctly.

Finally, Nancy sent two wonderful pictures from Montana today.

Stay safe, stay well. Peace.
