Well, I will not be sorry to say farewell to 2023. The sadnesses and sickness have outweighed the accolades and I’m ready for a fresh start. As Janis Ian sings in her wonderful anthem “Better Times Will Come”, I am hoping 2024 will bring better days for all.
We are very happy to be home again, surrounded by the creatures we love and recovering from a very rough December. The doctor advises Harry to lie low and take it easy for a month. We are slowly catching up, filled with gratitude for Jane, our superhero in time of need, and our good fortune compared to many we met in the hospital.
The birds are a great tonic, with their abundance and resilience. They bring us great joy and hope.
When we had a bit of snow (short lived), Marmalade visited the back porch.
The snow was brief and beautiful, but beauty abounds in every weather.
I have learned to appreciate the sky from Carolyn. With the Full Cold Moon (a misnomer this warm December) the night sky was quite dramatic.
Skittle is quite deaf, but she has developed a schedule, and sleeps in the tack room at night. It warms my heart to see her sleeping soundly, and safe in the barn.
Eddie loves Jane and was very excited when she came over for a cup of tea.
Eddy enriches our life just by being Eddy.
And so, there is not much to report here at the end of the year, just wishes for better times to come.
Be safe, be well, be grateful – very many places are worse than here. Slava Ukraini! Peace!!
I’m wishing you a very healthy and happy 2024. Surely it will be a better year for you and Harry. You must come back to see us in 2024 at William Woods University.
Happy New Year. So glad you’re home and healing. I too am ready for 2024. Too many health but it could be worse as we are so fortunate compared to all of worldwide unrest. Slava Ukraine
We are all lucky with our friends, but Jane soars to the top of the list! Happy New Year!
So glad we’re all up and moving again. Phew! I can breathe again for the first time in three weeks and my covid tets have been negative again.. Yay to Harry and Anne! I just saw all thecat pix , and I have to tell you two something that strikes me as remarkable: The Jan 1 issue of the country’s best journalism (best selected, best researched, best written month after after month for my reading lifetime): The New Yorker: features a story on the cat problem in LA after the instituting of a No Kill policy on wild cats. And it’s not funny and it’s not got resolution in the end and it touches on the not slow spread of the prob since wild kitties can raise two and three litters per year. A New Years heads up for us/ Lemme know you’re thinking. Happy , happy new year to all of earth’s creatures!!!
Raising a glass to health and happiness in 2024.
So nice to see everyone on a screen, hope to see you in person in April!
Happy New Year!
Slava Ukraini
Peace
Linda your reply with “so nice to see everybody on screen” gave me a good chuckle!

Best wishes to you all.

Happy New Year Anne!!!!! Hope 2024 is a Healthy, Happy and safe new year. Love your blogs, your pictures are amazing. God has a special place in heaven for Jane. Great to see Harry looking good.
Photos as usual are fabulous. I’m especially getting a kick out of the Cardinals. While taking a good look at their little red hooded heads, and their grumpy looking nature, I clearly see them running around, duty filled, in the Vatican. Ha Ha Ha. The dark ominous sky photo impresses me with the power of nature. Let’s see what else, oh yes! Harry looks amazingly healthy, pink in the cheeks healthy, after his and your ordeal. Eddie is way cute looking for Jane. I suppose we’re all carrying on, just like Skittles, adapting, and realishing the wonder of our surrounding natural life. Many thanks to you, Anne, for this, with love, and a Happy 2024 to you, Harry, Jane, and the four legged, winged, furry, fluffy, happy critters!
Anne, I hope some day you will find a way to share your magnigicent photos with the rest of the world. Meanwhile, may continued good health be with Harry and you and the whole crew out there. A good 2024 for everyone!
Ditto to all of these comments! thanks for your blog delights & true wishes for all your improved & increased health, (with minimal woes, though the latter in the wide world is quite a worry.) Cheers and good tidings where & whenever to be found!
