A full Hunter’s Moon tonight, and it’s a blue moon – first time in 80 years that a full blue moon falls on Halloween. And we turn the clocks back, too, so it’s also a long night.
We got Rosie because there is an idea that people do bad things to black cats, especially around Halloween. Liz, who rescued kittens, thought we would be a safe home. As you can see from the picture above, Rosie thinks we have done something awful to her, dressing her for Halloween. When we agreed to take the black kitten, Rosie, Liz still had her gray brother, called Roscoe, to place, so we took him, too. And that is how we came to have the Maltese King of cats living here.

It was a beautiful day. Jane arrived to ride, right on time. As usual, I was late. Harry was on his way back from the mailbox, and took pictures of us again.
Jane and Derry jumped. I did hop Bart over a few small jumps, too. Both horses were very good. I am pretty rusty, but Jane is on her game.

When we finished, we were at the barn, and a buck with antlers came by. I missed the picture. It is the first buck we have seen amongst the hordes of antlerless deer around here. No sooner had he disappeared into the woods, than Marilyn rode by on Chilly Willy, with his new haircut, along with trusty sidekick, Roy.
Marilyn Roy loves water!
Harry and I went for a look at the erosion control job west of the pasture, to see how it had held up with the rain. It looked good. Then we went for a bit of an exploratory walk, planning a new trail. It was a fun day to be in the woods, with frost having put an end to ticks and chiggers for a while. Our friend, John, called and we FaceTime walked through the woods with him. It was a nice blend of nature and technology.
The horses stayed out as late as possible, since they will be in for an extra hour tonight.
Stay safe, stay well, sleep late.
Happy Halloween Ann.
I love the woods in the fall. And, for a few moments, entering the world at Bronze Fox Farm ❤️
Oh boy, love the Roscoe pics!
