It was a beautiful, cool, sunny day today. Jane and I rode Derry and Bart. Here we are near the “Redbud Crossing” over the little creek. It’s pretty evident, at this time of year, why we call it that…
The horses were well behaved and it was a delightful time. I got some cool shadow pictures of Derry and Jane…

Nathan was hard at work, mowing and moving rock while Oisin supervised…
Now, we are going to take a trip over to Jane’s Botanical Garden…

Derry was having a nice graze with a sure sign of Spring, brown headed cowbirds. These birds follow the horses, as they used to follow the buffalo herds on the prairie. They can be naughty, laying eggs in other birds’ nests, but I enjoy them…
Jane is a wonderful gardener. Nettie and I interrupted her hard at work weeding and we took a picture by the honeysuckle, which will soon be in bloom.
Nettie wonders if we should go home…
My favorite tree stands across the driveway from our sign… often imperfection is beautiful.
Roscoe had a restful day today.

Meanwhile, Harry worked too hard. He feels good, and is not wearing the brace. He does his exercises, which is a job in itself, and elevates the leg several times a day. It’s so nice to have him back to normal life again!
And, finally, on this Good Friday, the dogwood is starting to open. Legend has it that a dogwood tree was used as the cross to crucify Jesus Christ. Ever since, the blossoms are stained with blood at the edges… it’s a romantic idea, but not truth. Don’t believe everything you hear out there!
Stay safe, stay well, and retain proper skepticism. There is some crazy information being thrown about, but washing your hands and covering your face is good advice from real scientists. On we go…
What a nice ride that was, thank you!
How do you know the names of all those flowers??? I am content to say, “Gee the red ones are really nice this year!” Thanks for the lessons.
Me too Harry, as far as the flowers go, but! I would love to know their names. Love the photos!! Lovely ride, love the photo of Jane with Derry saying “Hello, my good caretaker.” And the photo of Weedy and his best friend, Harry, so much love in your life. Lovely to see!
Oh! I forgot to add I love the photos of Nettie, sweet.
Happy Easter to you both and to Jane. Your pics make me miss those everliving school horses at GG. I need to adjust to more active ways. After next week- which is a rather somber week for me-Spring, with all that its mud and new growth sends to you a continued healing, Harry. You are amazing – and I want your dogs!!!!!🥰 Anne, you have NOT been left out. Love the horses pics.
