Full Worm Moon Sunday – March 8, 2020

The Full Worm Moon rose tonight. It’s not a very romantic name for a beautiful natural wonder. Moon shadows sound quite fantastic, and it is bright enough to throw them this evening. But Full Moons are thought to influence many things, not always to the good, and perhaps the full moon has contributed somehow to this difficult day.

Harry woke to Atrial Fibrillation at 3:15 (Daylight Saving Time) this morning. It persisted through the day, and he has still not converted as I write this. So it has not been a good day, though a long anticipated visit from Michigan by Linda and Ted brought some brightness to our gloom.

It was beautiful weather, and the horses were very happy, even as we fretted and worried over pulse rates and blood pressures. Harry did get up, but was so weakened, he had to stop and rest in our bedroom bed. The dogs loved that, but I was too freaked out to get a picture. Eventually, he ate some breakfast and got into his comfy recliner to hope his heart righted itself. It’s very frustrating, as there is nothing we can do but hope. Even Dr. Weedy was confounded.

Mickey, the wild cat, settled in to his caged life, and is not at all aggressive. In fact, I have been able to pet him already, and he does purr. I do so hope that he is not positive for disease! This is why I don’t like to catch the wild cats in advance. I get too attached. It’s hard enough to trap them and take them straight to the vet. If they have to be put to sleep, it’s surprisingly wrenching.

Meanwhile, Linda and Ted (and Linda’s little Norwich terrier, Tink) are on a road trip to the Texas Storytelling Festival. They had warned us that they would be winding their way toward Texas, via Fulton, Missouri today, and we were very excited to see them. Because they travel in a vintage RV (named Rosie), towing a car, we picked them up at the Foristell exit rather than try to get Rosie in and out of here. I don’t have the words to say how good it was to see them all. And it turned out there was another traveler, their rescued cat, Beka. She should tell her story at the Festival – she is a very lucky cat indeed.

Jane, too, was happy to see Linda and Ted. The only sad part was Harry’s heart misbehaving. That, and my intense anxiety. Here is a picture of the visit with all looking quite grim!

It really wasn’t that bad!

We brought Mistletoe out to see Tinkerbelle (the dogs were locked in the bedroom to avert disruptions). Both are elderly dogs – Tink is about to turn 15, and Toto is at least 12 and moves like she’s 20.

Mistletoe and Tink have similar haircuts, and are similarly loved by their humans…

Linda and Ted have many wonderful stories of their own, as they head to the Storytelling Festival where seven years ago Ted proposed to Linda. We had such a short visit, I felt like we brushed from one story to the next without finishing most of them. And being with Linda stirred so many wonderful memories of horses and adventures from many years ago. How lucky we have been to know such friends, and to have them in our life, still, over long years!

A studio visit to see the Texas Storyteller… a synchronicity!

And soon, we dashed back to Foristell and said our good byes, and I was quite overcome with emotion. In a good way, but I’m pretty overwrought lately. Safe travels, friends, and spell-binding stories with good endings…

I called the cardiologist (naturally, it’s a Sunday, these crises never happen on convenient days). He reassured me that Harry’s vitals were not terrible, and we should just carry on as we have been.

Harry maintains his steadfast good humor through these physical trials and continues to inspire me as we muddle along, still deep in the woods, and in a thorny part at present.

Still smiling in spite of it all…

Here’s hoping the worm turns, luck changes, and the heart resumes a regular rhythm…

Thank you for allowing us to stop in for a short visit to your beautiful home chock full of love! Hugs to Jane, how did we get away without a hug for Jane? More healing energy strumming and humming its way to you. Hope today is a restful one.
