Full Pink Moon – April 7, 2020

Too much sadness – this evening John Prine has died of Covid. From two years ago, NPR Tiny Desk Concert https://youtu.be/sOg7mAkrKJw Such a loss.

I had already started this, so on we go… Tuesday is trash day and PT day, and today the rental hospital bed, tray table, and wheelchair were picked up. So it was busy, for a day in quarantine. The full moon has risen through the east woods and clouds departed just in time. It’s a beautiful night, full of moon shadows, and warm.

The horses finally went out on grass again today. There was great celebration before they settled down to graze.

Marianne continues to be a great help and is still smiling!

Kristin has to wear a mask now. She put Harry through his paces, and added many more exercises to his routine.

John, who delivered the hospital bed (and helped us with the ramp) on a frigid February day, came on this unseasonably warm April day to take it away. Good riddance. It’s wonderful to have our living space return to normalcy.

Once that was accomplished, I met up with Jane for a ride. Our Irish horses got pretty warm, and it was a perfect day for a bath. Bart submitted to bathing and then, as soon as he was turned out, he hit the dirt…

Bart is only happy when he’s dirty

The culprits from yesterday’s fight were on best behavior today. Nettie watched the day’s proceedings, and Mistletoe thought it was awfully warm!

Roscoe likes the new arrangement of furniture, and the way the afternoon light falls across the chair as he lies on Harry’s legs…

Afternoon rest

Lilacs will be in bloom tomorrow, the cherry trees have exploded into blossoms. Now, we need to hope there is no frost!

And so, another day to be grateful for, even as losses mount. We, who are staying well, must cherish every day, help those less fortunate, and do what good we can whenever we are able.

  1. John Prine, what a life! Grateful for his musical legacy. Your post is so full of beautiful things, Harry and normalcy included. Perhaps you might allow me to use some of your horses for reference pics? Be well, Love, L

    1. Haha! Of course, you can use my pictures! I can send you full quality versions if you want. I assume you will be using for “Here is how NOT to do things!”. Stay well, and thanks for your constant support. Hope Spring is arriving there by now!
