Weather changed for the better last night, and this morning dawned cool, and much less humid. It feels like September! The horses were in no hurry to come in.
The cats are hungry in the mornings, since I have started locking up cat food and bird food in the evenings to deter raccoon varmints. I am greeted by a herd of cats lately on my way to the barn.

I went over to Marianne’s to watch her load Liam. He was a star. Once she got the lead rope out of his mouth, he loaded like an old campaigner and off they went for a new experience. I am so enjoying a vicarious youngster adventure with four year old Liam, who is very special!
Liam is very oral! Perfect loader, happy Marianne!
Then, home and a visit from stepdaughter, Anne, who brought Harry a wonderful portrait she painted. She certainly got artistic talent from her father. Soon, the canvas will be framed and on the wall.
Anne, the younger, and Harry spent some time in the studio and cooking lunch, while Jane and I gallivanted around on horseback. Then, we had a delicious family meal and a nice visit on the porch. The dogs love these convivial times. So do we.

I am trying to get a hummingbird picture at the cardinal climber, to no avail. I missed several shots today, but had to settle for a hummer on the hostas. Their green coloration makes them blend into the green of every plant!
My latest project is pallets for more hay that is coming soon. I went to Lowe’s yesterday and bought lumber, and Harry and I set to work this afternoon. This design is simpler than the tables we made a few years ago. One pallet done, one to finish tomorrow. Harry insisted on taking a picture of me.
Finally, after a long day, Harry has a three dog evening on the couch. Nettie, of course, is too sophisticated (and too grumpy) for such behavior. Happy dogs and happy human.
Stay safe, stay well, stay happy.
