We are in an unseasonably warm spell here. No complaints until Tuesday, when I will be bitching as the temps drop around forty degrees and the feral horses return to the barn.
The witch hazel was luminous in the morning light.
Jane and I rode today, though walking was the majority of the work. It was warm and pleasant and we had much to discuss. Harry took a picture as we set off, after I got a picture of him.
When we were finished, I checked in on Harry in the studio. Mistletoe was keeping a close eye on Harry as he worked.

The barn cats are a little lonely without the horses inside. Marmalade and Licorice came over to the barn at feeding time this afternoon. Then they scarpered to the shed, where a big orange interloper, Tom Morris by name, shared their dinner. He discovered that the food in the shed is more delicious, and is served on a tablecloth!
Here she comes! Run!! Tom Morris discovers that the food in the shed is more delicious than in the barn
Finally, our friend John sent this amazing picture of donkeys in Italy that are used as “nannies” to move lambs from the high pastures to the plains, too far for the babies to walk. At each rest stop, the lambs are taken out of the pouches and given to their sheep mothers for milk and love. Of course, donkeys are famous for protecting sheep. And Nancy’s mules in Montana keep all manner of interlopers out of the pasture there. But this is a very sweet side of Long Ears.
Stay safe, stay well, be kind.
The warmth emanating from your words and pictures is palpable, thank you. Isn’t that a marvelous picture of the sheep nannies?!? I could travel like that haha.
Yes, we are enjoying a few days of amazing weather here too. But Tink and I will be shivering and whining as we pile the layers back on next week. Stay safe and be well.
Peace
Love the pic of Mistletoe! Such adoring eyes. And, the cats all so friendly now, wonderful! I wonder where the picture of the donkey’s is in Italy. It looks like Missouri!
Those “nannies” are adorable!
Those lamb holders are adorable.
The lamb holders are adorable.
I’m glad that the horses are in the pasture, saving you some extra work. Harry and Mistletoe look content but not as content of the lambs! Such a nice glimpse in another’s life, thank you for sharing. I’m so glad to see Tom Morris and Marmalade sharing a dish.
