It is much more interesting to report on Harry’s progress than on my own. Alas, I am still running a fever, though not horribly high. I have endured a splitting headache for 24 hours, but no cough. This morning, I called the primary care doctor and had my first teleconference. He was reassuring, but felt that we had to proceed as if it is Covid-19. So I drove to St. Luke’s this afternoon for a Covid test. It wasn’t as bad as I expected. The driving was worse than the test. But I made it there and back, and now I await results in 3 to 5 days. Meanwhile, I will stay isolated and hope that Harry doesn’t get it.
Such lucky timing, though! Harry is doing so well that he doesn’t need any help from me, and he can put whatever I need on the stairs. I haven’t needed much yet, except sleep. If it had happened even two weeks ago, it would have been much more difficult for Harry to care for me. But with regard to timing – the 7th of the month has not been lucky for us this year! On January 7th, we were robbed, on February 7th, Harry broke his femur, and on May 7th, I developed a fever. Hoping it’s nothing serious, but I am freaking out with worry, of course. Time for a Xanax!
So as not to waste the pictures I took yesterday, here is a brief recap of a day that started out to be like any other day. I am already bereft not being able to be with Harry…
Another thing I will really miss while I am in isolation is mornings in the barn. As always, Marianne has come to the rescue, but I miss this…
Rebecca came yesterday, laden with flowers and eggs and my favorite dried peaches, which she gets locally in the summer. She is too generous, and her happiness is a tonic. Also, she is a hard worker! She tidied the strawberry bed, and continued with endless weeding. I do hope the strawberries survive the frost that may hit us tonight. They have a better chance now that Rebecca has given them straw for protection.
Hard at work Joyful laugh Straw for the berries Ripening!
Then, Jane came over for a ride. As I was tacking Bart up, he went on high alert. Deer! Just at the edge of the east woods. There were three of them. I called Jane to warn her. There was no problem at the barn, after all. But when we got to the ring, there were deer again, and our pleasant ride was totally disrupted. Not to mention a fly that makes Bart insane. It just was not fun. One of those days…
Two deer And a third – ‘Ware haunch! Jane sees the camera Derry sees a fly Derry gets above the bit!
Next on the agenda was a trip to St. Luke’s for Harry to see the rheumatologist and get cortisone shots in his shoulders. We had our temperatures taken, and were both fine. All went well, and I drove home, but was feeling pretty rough, so I took my temperature and was extremely dismayed to have fever. Well, you know the rest of the story. I isolated upstairs, and I will be here through Monday at least.
I hope all of you are well and stay safe. I am going to try to rest and heal. And hope that Harry somehow avoids this!
Please know you are in our prayers
Thanks, Melissa! Keep most of the prayers on Harry!
Thank you for the update, we are concerned about you two. Hoping the test is negative and that you will feel better soon.
Thank you for the update. Healing energy humming your way! Both of you be well be well be well ❤️
I cannot believe how the world expects to control covid spread when a person with money, info and personal awareness takes three to seven days after speaking with a series of doctors to get a diagnosis for the world’s most dangerous infectious disease. This is so pathetic!!! Hope you end up well . Glad I didn’t start pleading with you to bring my little horse to your side of the river for a school with her saddle on. Make sure you ask Laura how her training of hers is going. Always your friend, Florence.
Oh dear!. Sending boat loads of prayers your way, never fear, plenty for Harry too. What I love about this post is your ever eduring love for Harry, always there for him, “at least I know Harry will not be lonely.” ❤️ And we all know Harry is there for you.❤️ What a beautiful love story. Be well, and let us know the results, and know your body’s miraculous armies will fight off disease!
