Today at last, I feel pretty normal. Whereas yesterday, I could barely muster the energy to walk to the house from the barn, today I actually ran a couple of steps!

This was the final official PT day for Harry. We are very sad that Dan will no longer be coming in with new and more vigorous exercises. But for his grand finale, we walked to the ring and visited the barn. Dan even removed his mask outdoors at a safe distance! We hope he will visit again outside his professional capacity. And here’s a strange synchronicity – Dan’s last name turns out to be Walters! And he has an aunt, Jane Walters! No relation, but funny nonetheless.

I took some pictures outside…

Jane and I had a nice ride on Derry and Oisin. I feel at almost full riding strength now, ready for Bart! No pictures of our ride, but I took this photo of Stone’s eye – a homage to Robert Vavra, famed equine photographer in the 1970s. I was lucky enough to spend a day at Queeny Park with Robert Vavra long ago.

And speaking of eyes, Marianne had a bad day yesterday. Amazingly, she is still smiling! Mainly because she is glad she still has her teeth and her eye after a freak accident with a table saw. A piece of wood splintered while trying to saw it on an angle, and a chunk of wood hit Marainne in the face! She was very lucky. I was mean to take a picture, but it serves as a warning for all of us to be careful around power equipment. As if being careful around horses wasn’t enough!

It was such a relief to get through the day without needing to lie down and rest! The dogs do always need to lie down and rest at the end of the day.

End of a lovely day with Roscoe on my lap… life is good.

And finally, Nancy sent pictures this morning of last night’s mule baby – a girl, born in the rain, two weeks early, small but strong, and definitely the cutest baby in Montana this year!

Stay safe, stay well, stay strong.

I remember that day with Vavra…we all sure had a lot of fun. Glad you are back up to speed. Don’t forget to eat.

  2. The picture I like the most is the one if the two dogs taking up the whole couch as they relax after a hard day. I’m SO glad you are feeling normal again, and that your ride was good.

  3. I’m glad that Marianne’s accident wasn’t worse! And that baby mule is so adorable! Congratulations to Nancy from Montana!
