This month already feels like it’s getting away from me. The horse show doesn’t help. Even though we are not showing, we cannot stay away. Add the seventy degree weather and the days are just not long enough.
Jane picked me up at 8:15 so that we could get to the show for the first class. Our friend, Louise C. (not to be confused with Louise S.) was showing in the main ring. It was fun to see many friends, and to make some new ones. Louise and her horse, Encore (High Point Encore) had good rounds in a competitive low hunter division.
Our friend, Brett, met up with us at the show, and Harry and Weedy joined us after they went to the Wentzville Recycling Center. When Louise was finished showing, we all went to lunch at BC’s. The food was great, but we were disappointed that the outdoor seating was closed for the season. It could hardly have been a more beautiful day.
Early lunch allowed us time to ride. Harry and I went trail riding and had a blast, despite some small shenanigans on the part of Oisin and Stone.
Harry and Stone Weedy runs to Harry Weedy is very glad Harry has finished riding
Next, the chestnut Irish horses had a good school. We jumped the grid that Kris set. As usual, Jane and Derry did it beautifully. I managed to catch a short video and pull a couple of stills.
I turned the lights out in the studio for Harry, and got a sculpture picture while I was in there. It was a day of few photographs, but much fun in good company.
In closing, I am going to share something James Corden said on his television show. After Stephen Sondheim died this past week at age 91, a lyric was found on his piano. He was still creating and working to the end. The lyric went as follows, according to James Corden…
If it isn’t the sun, it’s the birdsong, If it isn’t the air, it’s the view. I’m completely undone by the endless Abundance of life, aren’t you? Stephen Sondheim (1930-2021)
Stay safe, stay well. Peace.
Anne that’s just lovely! Thanks for sharing.
Peace
Thank you for sharing the beautiful Sondheim lyric. It summarizes the way I feel when I read your blogs.
Great to see you and great quote. Don’t I wish I rode like Louise S🥰
Haha, Louise! I wasn’t referring to THE Louise S – don’t we all wish we could ride hunters like her!? We have another friend, Louise S, who has been featured in the blog. She does the cross rail hunters at local shows, having taken up riding hunters late in life. She is getting better all the time, and maybe will be at a rated show one of these days!
Everything is how we see it, our perception may even predict how our lives turn out. Example, observe Sondheim’s perception and his fecund life. He suffered some neglect and “psychological” abuse from his mother, true. He trounced that and carried on as we all well know. Awesome!
Wow! Just think, horses and dogs, cats and birds, some get really lucky (abundant) and land at Bronze Fox Farm!
Anne, I just recovered my email. I thank you, also, for sending that beautiful Sondheim lyric. What a genius. What a loss.
I’m going to share that, with the hope that someone will put it to music!
