It was a very cold start today, but it warmed to a perfect Spring day with no clouds, and no wind.
I had to go to the gas station for mower fuel this morning, because Nathaniel was coming to do the first mowing of the year.
The horses were insane when I let them out on the grass when I returned. They ran and bucked so hard, I was sure there would be lost shoes, but somehow we were lucky, and all shoes were on and tight when they finally settled down to graze. Of course, I did not have the camera, because I assumed they would be quiet about grass turnout by now. It’s hard to believe that these placidly grazing creatures had been running flat out for ten minutes.
The amelanchier trees in the woods are starting to bloom white. Leaves are popping, and soon the redbuds, Missouri’s state tree, will burst into blossom.
Magnolia, somewhat shocked by the cold night Daffodils in the woods
A series of afternoon bird pictures…
A pair of cardinals and a dove Female cardinal decides to leave There she goes Male cardinal follows Dove glances this way… And dove departs
Jane came over after lunch and we rode. Last week, we were complaining about the wet, now it’s too dusty! But the good news is that Jane’s eyes are a little better.
The horses went out again on the grass, without excitement this time, and they came in when called in the late afternoon.
Bart strolls to dinner
Twizzler welcomed the horses to the barn.
Harry brought the dogs out for a short afternoon stroll.
Finally, daffodils and scilla flowers at the base of a redbud my father planted here fifteen years ago. It will be glorious any day now.
Stay safe, stay well. Peace.
Sights of spring and evidence of lives well lived makes me feel good.
