Harry was profoundly tired today, so there has not been much activity. He was so tired this morning, I was actually worried. But mid morning, he woke up and had a bit of therapy…
First, some Oakey elixir (carrot juice and aloe vera juice)
Then some companion animal touch therapy…
Finally, I fixed breakfast! This is a great accomplishment. I am learning to cook, silver lining to this cloud…
So Harry got up, as Roscoe suggested…
A delicious reward after shaving Hard at work
Jane came to the rescue, as usual, when I realized we needed a few things. She ran errands for us, and, as usual, I forgot to get a picture!
Victoria came by for Rebecca (the James Gang girls) with delicious, homemade chicken soup, bread, and fresh eggs, laid just last night! Wheelchair transport may be a difficulty, but there are good reasons to live out in the country, like eggs and generous friends.
Marianne, without whom we would not be able to cope with this difficult situation, stopped over with a bag of goodies, as if her hard work isn’t enough! And tulips will soon be blooming at bedside.
Finally, to end the day, I headed out to the barn to do night check on the horses. It’s such a beautiful, peaceful time in the barn and the smell of horses calms me. As I let down, I thought of Bert, whose funeral was today. And Pam Oakey’s aunt, whose funeral was today, too. And, of course those four people (two young mothers and their two teenage daughters en route from Louisville to Kansas City yesterday) whose adventures ended too soon. We are so lucky – even when times are difficult, we should celebrate the days… and nights – and friends.
I came into the house, tired and somber, and found these bad boys breaking the rules and filling me with the joy they share with each other…
Good night to all. Godspeed… regardless of belief, I love that word.
Thank you for your blog! Your writing is so rich, I look forward to them! BTW, chicken soup was a mix, just added more noodles and chicken. Not much of a cook either.
Well, it is delicious soup and very therapeutic! Thank you!
Thank you for sharing. Godspeed ❤️
Glad to see that every day is better than the one before. What a lovely community you have!
