Well, I will cut right to the big news – I got a call from an unknown Clayton number. It was the testing doctor! He called to tell me that my test for Covid-19 had come back negative. He told me to resume my regular life, hand washing, cleaning, and wearing a mask in public. No need to isolate. Since I had responded so well to the doxycycline, I am not worried about a false negative, either. It was only a two day wait! They had told me that my doctor would be notified, and he would call me, but they saved me a day of worry, which was so nice!
The theme of this year seems to be that life can change in an instant. With that phone call, everything changed for the better. I had been making plans for two weeks of isolation, and suddenly, life returned to normal. Well, sort of. I am so weak it’s pathetic. But I will soon bounce back, using Harry as a role model.
Here was what I saw this morning…
Since I woke to a normal temperature, I got up and walked in an effort to regain strength. Twelve minutes of walking back and forth upstairs and my legs were tortured. I felt like I’d run several miles. So, back to bed. Then, the phone call gave me added energy, and I was able to go downstairs and embrace Harry (no social distancing). I got dressed, and had my first meal in two and a half days.
Roscoe followed me downstairs and went outside. Later, I was upstairs collecting some of my stuff, and look who appeared on the roof at the east window! Once I let him in, he stayed with me when I went back downstairs.
The weather was glorious, so when I went to the barn to visit the horses, I turned them out into the north pasture. They always love a change of field.

On the way to the barn, I found ripe strawberries! Rebecca gets some of the credit.
The locust tree is covered in blooms, and the swamp iris (which came from my mother, appropriately, on Mother’s Day) are lighting up the stream. And speaking of Mother’s Day, my stepdaughter called to wish her wicked stepmother a Happy Mother’s Day, which was very sweet.

I should not understate how exhausted I am. I rested most of the afternoon. Harry had way more energy than I did, though we did nap together for a while.
We had a celebratory evening drink. Mr. Bluebird (of happiness) made an appearance on the fence and entertained us by diving on a bug (the fence interfered with getting a picture of that).
I missed the dogs almost as much as I missed Harry. They were not worried, and not that excited to see me.
And finally, a most important and greatly treasured item – the tick jar in the barn for tick picking the horses. Only Betsey Johnson would come up with such an idea, and have the creativity to produce this useful masterpiece. I am looking forward to drowning many more ticks, those creepy little monsters!
Stay safe, stay well, Happy Mother’s Day, and beware of ticks!
Great news for you. Plus, some company or another has discovered for covid a test for antigens instead of the virus itself so finally there is hope for the controls on spread testing ought to be able to provide. Everyone back to mucking!
I really cannot complain about testing, but it does seem unfair that everyone at the White House gets tested every day while there are shortages and long waits for the rest of the U.S.
Yay! Go Anne Go! Slowly🌞❤️ That Roscoe is some cat!
