Covid For Christmas

I have been complaining about how hectic our life has been, no time to get caught up. And then, yesterday, Covid came crashing into our life, presenting a real problem.

Harry was fine yesterday morning. He stopped by the horse show briefly for a visit on his way to Chesterfield Mall to work on his sculpture, with Weedy assisting. When he returned home midday, he didn’t feel well. His temperature was “normal” but higher than usual, at 98.4F. He ate lunch, then went to bed for a rest.

Laura came for a visit with Christmas presents and her lovely terrier, Dreidl. Eddy is smitten, and he finally had a chance to play with another dog. Meanwhile, Harry was in the bedroom with Weedy. Jane came over and we three old ladies had a fun visit. But when they left, I took Harry’s temperature, and it was 100.2. A Covid test was strongly positive. Mine was negative, but we are worried for Laura and Jane, of course. So far, only Harry is sick, but at 81, it is no joke. He and Weedy are quarantined upstairs and riding the rollercoaster of chills and misery. We are hoping that, since he is vaccinated, this will not be terrible. But it is bad enough that I will stop complaining about minor inconveniences for a while.

Christmas cards are not yet printed, so we are going to be late this year. We are hoping they will be ready tomorrow. The letter is written and printed, so maybe I will stay healthy and make use of the downtime. We shall see…

Stay safe, stay well, pray for peace. Slava Ukraini! Peace.

  1. Oh my, awful news. I will pray for Harry and possibly Weedy. Perhaps the vaccine will mitigate the virus.

  2. Hoping for a quick recovery for Harry! This was Not the Christmas present that he was hoping for.

  3. Research is showing more evidence that if you take the anti-viral it can protect you against long Covid. Think about calling your doc and getting it for Harry. I’ve taken it twice and so has a sister and it greatly decreases symptoms, too.

    1. I was going to ask/suggest the same thing- is Pavloxin the name and is it any good for very ancient youngsters like Harry? (Kid kid- elbow, Harry)
I hope all of you get the most minimal of bugs if any all this winter. And have low-stress holiday prep etc. Eddie & Dreidl seem quite a match btw!

  4. Hi so sorry Harry has Covid; I will keep him in my for a mild case and quick recovery. There is a drug that’s supposed to help but it made me feel awful. Hope you are spared and remain healthy. Miss you both. Give Harry my love and wishes for a speedy recovery. Louise xoxo

  5. Very sorry that Harry has the wretched bug. I hope he will kick it quickly and that everyone else stays healthy.
Those two dogs look so happy together. It’s a joy to see animals play.

  6. Dear Harry,
Life is one day at a time, isn’t it. This day is sunny, and that’s a good sign. And I am picturing your great, warm smile!🌞
My healing prayers are with you.
    Love,
    Patti

  7. What a random ever changing virus. How do we navigate this enigma? Harry’s spirit and vitality aught to ward off the worst. Not to mention Weedy on guard! Your’s too Anne. As to Eddy, you go!! Love the photos as usual.
