Conversion – September 9, 2021

After a long week of atrial fibrillation (about which I was requested not to blog), Harry has allowed me to tell of today’s big event. We went to St. Luke’s for a cardioversion, in which Harry was knocked out and his heart shocked back into sinus rhythm. It has been a year since his last conversion, so things have been going fairly well, though this was a long week, waiting for Dr. Moyer, who schedules all these procedures only on Thursday. We could have gone to the emergency room if it was a crisis, but we preferred to wait for her expertise.

Instead of knocking him out with propofol, which has a quick recovery, today they used “conscious sedation”, a mix of fentanyl and Versed, so Harry was very sleepy all day. But his heart was regular and strong, so no complaints! He was well cared for all day by Weedy and Mistletoe. Nettie kept watch from the closet, and Cedar just wanted a tummy rub.

While Harry rested, I took a few pictures. I went over to Jane’s house to get hummingbird pictures, since she has clouds of hummingbirds at her very popular feeders. On the way, there were butterflies…

Jane has an uncommonly beautiful crepe myrtle looking over her impressive hedge.

At our house, we have a little tiny frog, instead of swarming hummingbirds. It is well camouflaged!

Tom Morris lounges on the porch with Roscoe in the house, watching over Harry. Marmalade likes to hang out nearby, watching and learning.

Marianne was here this evening and I had my camera for her ubiquitous smile.

The horses went out to a perfect evening, but heat is back in the forecast. September heat is never quite as bad as August heat, though. Tonight will be positively chilly before the warmup arrives.

Weedy was exhausted after a hard day sleeping with Harry. I’m wrung out myself, from relief that this anxious week has finished on a good note. Weedy is picturesque even when exhausted. That cannot be said of me this evening.

Harry has arisen from the arms of Morpheus, with a steady heart and well rested.

Stay safe, stay well, stay in rhythm. Peace.

  1. Ditto to all the above. Wonderful Weedy, humingbird still is superb! How you ever saw the frog I don’t know!
