We were lucky with the weather, and dawn broke cold, but with ice only on the back porch, and some slight snow flurries. The birds were plentiful, and I took way too many pictures.

The horses don’t seem to mind the cold, as long as there is hay to eat. If the hay runs out, they get bored and play rough. Or sometimes they play rough just because they can.
A peaceful scene
Roscoe met up with Marmalade while he was out to the barn for a visit. He is not feeling very benign since his house has been invaded .
“I’m the Maltese king of cats, and don’t you forget it!”
Arthur, meanwhile is making inroads. At least today there was no growling and hissing.
Arthur sits chilly on the sofa while Roscoe gives him an evil look
Arthur’s main domain is the basement, which Roscoe will no longer enter, he is so annoyed. On this cold day, we had all creatures except Arthur in one picture in the living room with the fireplace.
Broken seasoned oak fence boards burn nicely
The dogs were glad to be PIDs today. In Bowling Green, where we had many dogs, we had TIDs – Temporary Indoor Dogs, TODs – Temporary Outdoor Dogs, PODs – Permanent Outdoor Dogs, and PIDs – Permanent Indoor Dogs. These four have always been PIDs since they joined our family, but they were all PODs early in their lives, so they do appreciate the comforts of home.
Nettle Cedar Mistletoe Weedy
Cedar spent a little time scanning for varmints from the back porch, but soon returned to the couch.
Harry worked in the studio, but the best part of the day was spent relaxing with Weedy.
Stay safe, stay well, stay warm. Peace.
I always look forward to your blog , always spectacular pictures !
What a comfy scene, everyone warm by the fire. I’ve so enjoyed these visits to your homestead. Thank you, Anne, for this pleasure.
Your bird pictures are spectacular.
Another good chuckle! Wake up, have coffee, read Anne’s blog, and often start the day off with a good laugh. This morning it is the photo of all the four legged beasties spread out over the living area, comfy on everything soft, as Harry sits on the stone wall. Not a cushion for a human, as it should be! Four legged creatures rule at Bronze Fox Farm!
I love how the animals all sit on the furniture and Harry sits on the fireplace! Happy creatures.
So enjoy your photos. I love the dog photos, the horse photos and the birds. They are my morning inspiration to put on the “green suit” to go out and feed. It is still too dark to feed horses with this frozen ground. I like to see where I am tripping and falling down. Oops, the deer have arrived and would like to be fed. I shall put the green suit, socks, gloves, and hat into the dryer for 10 minutes until all are warm. Have a safe and wonderful New Year.
