It was a delightful morning for a trail ride. Jane had spent much of the day yesterday clearing trails, so we had to test them out. The horses were relieved that they didn’t have to work too hard, especially as it warmed up quickly.
My friend, Susie, who has raised cattle in the Ozarks for many years, once told me “you are never more than two weeks from a drought”. I have found that to be true. For all the rain we have had this Spring, it is suddenly very dry indeed.
A Pee Wee came to the back porch today and did some yoga. Here is a series of pictures.
Welcome to yoga class Swivel your head Shrug your shoulder Drop your chin to the side Fluff your feathers Stretch that wing Seated cat pose Fan those tail feathers Head back Lift your shoulder And lift this side, too Sing Namaste
I spent some time working on the south wall of the studio. It is still a work in progress, but we are making headway.
Out in the garden, there was a lot of watering to be done. The magnificent red perennial hibiscus that Rebecca found last week has survived transplant in the heat and opened its first bloom today. The pink one is almost ready.
The bad news out in the garden is that tomato hornworms have arrived. They are very destructive, and sort of hideously beautiful. Not to mention difficult to see. Their damage is usually apparent before they are. I can show them no mercy, if we wish to have homegrown tomatoes (and we do).

Weedy went on a fairly short adventure. July is not great weather for wandering.
Doves enjoyed the birdbath this afternoon.
This evening, the dogs made room for Harry to join them on their couch. The late night shows are back, and we needed the laughs. It was a nice end to the day.
Stay safe, stay well, keep laughing when you can.
Tomato Hornworm, who knew! Gorgeous creature, I’m wowed! Can you relocate them? Kinda like one does with racoons etc? LOL. And the Hibiscus, amazing, and I thought they were tropical. Weedy and his adventures, now there’s where I would worry. I like them home and on the couch with Harry. Happy Days!
Weedy wears his GPS tracker when he goes on adventures. Adventures make him so happy, we try not to worry too much. We prefer him on the couch, though, too!
