Assessed – February 18, 2020

A very hectic day! We are both exhausted, but the good news is, the time flew by, and we are one day closer…

The day began with AW Health Care company sending someone for an “assessment”. This had been initiated by Surrey Place, so we were worried. Turns out AW stands for Ageing Well (NOT Anne Weber), and Kristin, their representative, was one of the best people we have met through this ordeal. In a small world, rural way, we somehow discovered that she is married to the grandson of the man who owned the 80 acres adjoining us! That grandfather, Russell Brockfeld, was very nice, but he has since died, so the property has changed hands, but what a coincidence!

We passed the assessment with flying colors, and Kristin even met the dogs. Harry’s vitals were acceptable, the leg wound is healing, and REAL PT (Physical Therapy) will start next week. OT (Occupational Therapy) will be calling tomorrow. The only tense moment was when Kristin commented on how “spry” Harry is! And, of course, there are insurance companies to contact, and doctors to consult, and time flies, even in frustration.

Once Kristin was gone, there was a little dog time…

Nettie is keeping watch.

Betsy came with lunch of delicious chicken curry and also brought homemade marinara sauce. She said, “You know what it’s like when you just get cooking in the kitchen…” Well, no, I actually don’t, but we are definitely not going to starve! We enjoyed delicious lunch together and lots of laughs, but left almost every topic half finished. And I forgot to get a picture of Betsy for the blog! I’m getting overwhelmed and can’t quite keep up!

Jane returned the wheelchair to Surrey Place, where she found everyone to be very nice, and accomplished that mission, and many others for us. She came home laden with obscure groceries we had requested and some special treats for Harry.

Harry enjoys a treat from Whole Foods.

Marilyn stopped by with Stockings’ crate, and came in for a short visit.

A little veterinary advice is always welcome!

Before we knew it, the day was gone and we had some peace and quiet, and cheese and crackers. Roscoe is always on the job!

Tulip bulbs from Marianne are showing color and reminding us that Spring and new growth (bone, too, we hope!) is just around the corner…

Tulips…
No harm here.
