At least it isn’t snow! It was a dreary day today, and there is not much to report from here.
Harry went to town with Weedy for errands and a haircut. He returned with the mail, which arrived earlier than usual, so I had to make a run to Wright City to the post office, since I had missed the post. On the way, I saw this hawk on a wire in the rain. The photo isn’t very clear. I think it is a sharp shinned hawk (though it might be a Cooper’s hawk). They are quite similar, and both eat smaller birds. Luckily, it was a long way from our place.
Around here, there are many smaller birds, so we do not want bird eating hawks to visit!
Harry’s new haircut is a good one.
Best bird picture of the day was not taken here. A friend nearby sent it – a barred owl. We hear them in the woods, but I have not seen one for a picture myself. What a joy and a privilege it is to live amongst such creatures!
Be safe, be well. Peace.
You do know your hawks! I have the pleasure of having one occasionally in my backyard in nice weather. I guess they live in Forest Park.
May you have a Superb Owl Sunday!
